Network Monitoring tool for all vendors?
We are a network management company mostly in data. We are getting clients on IP telephony (corporate voip) networks as well now. What are the best softwares/tools to monitor IPT/voip networks for all the vendors i.e. cisco, nortel, avaya etc. We want to put a software/server centrally and monitor all our different clients voip networks from that. How can we do that?
Driver download for Acer laptop question?
Well I think I removed the wireless LAN driver for my laptop and I've been trying to figure out how to get it back. I've recently went on the acer website and they had drivers to download, I've downloaded the driver like 5 times and I don't know how to get it in action.... HELP!
Internet provided by USB want to convert to router?

Why is my connection so slow?
i bridged my connection Wireless Network Connection and Local Area Connection to play xbox and my internet became slow, so i unbridged it and my internet is still painfully slow. i tried disabling my local area connection and there is no difference. what could be the problem? just ran a malware bytes quick scan and it came up clean

i was playing cod with my friend who has a headset and i couldn't hear what he was saying properly, can i turn up the volume anywhere in my settings so i can hear him better. I dont have a headset so it would be through the tv.
Hi everyone : ) I'm not sure what to study next?!?!?
I have started working in desktop support which I must admit I don't really enjoy. I have passed the Cisco CCNA and in my current role I get to support users with Avaya which is something I find interesting and do enjoy. Thing is I have no real experience other than in my current role as I used to work in Sales. I want to get the CCVP next but worry that I may make myself unhireable as only knowing that field... should I do a server MCTS first or just concentrate on the CCVP and Avaya???? The experience with Avaya I'm getting is pretty minimal, I basically pass on tickets to the network team but I do get involved with bridge calls when there is an outage and the Voice network team have offered to help with equipment, sitting in on training etc as the company I work for uses Cisco and Avaya. But of course I worry if I go for an external job they may not hire me based on that and the CCVP. Basically What I'm saying is I'm worried about putting all my eggs in one basket, it's a lot of studying to get to a point where I can't get a job in the Voice field. Any advice would be greatly received : )

If your PC is under the desk, a lot of times a desk will interfere with the signal. Get an USB extension cable plug the cable into the USB port, and plug the part that is in the PC into the end of the cable, place the end on your desk (closer to the keyboard). OR relocate the PC.

I used to be able to connect to my router with my xbox 360 slim and i brought it to a friends house and connected to his router and now my xbox won't connect to my router anymore and the wireless internet works on my laptop and when i plug in an ethernet cable, and it can find my router but won't conect to it. my internet type is 3g wireless broadband. i did a few tests on speedtest.net and my ping varied around 200-300ms. my download speed was around 1.4 mb/s (although it only downloads files at around 300kb/s) and my upload speed was around 0.2 mb/s. is my internet connection adequate for black ops multiplayer on PC? if it helps, to give you an indication, i can play far cry 2 multiplayer with hardly any lag at all. also how much data does black ops use? How to unblock a wireless connection?
For some unknownl reason, my PC computer cannot detect a particular wireless connection (say "wireless A") at my work place... It can detect all other wireless in the area but not "wireless A"... which is basically the only connection I can use at the work place. All my other colleagues were able to connect but me... Help!!! Do I need to check anything?

Voice traffic over Point to Point T1?
We have to office locations (A & B). Currenlty A has a Avaya phone switch. We are looking at moving people to location B and setting up a point to point T1 between the two. Data traffic will be easy, but can someone help me understand our options for voice? Currently at location A there are no direct numbers, only extensions. Ideally we would like workers at location B to have extensions and be able to transfer calls directly to extensions in our office. Can we utilize our current switch between locations using the T1?

Cisco and Juniper are both great products. They are often used for medium to large enterprise companies. I have worked with those products before, but using Cisco would be your best bet. Why? Headset will not play presumably because of HD cable running from Video Card to TV?
So I have a custom built computer, running Vista Pro (64bit), and it's connected visually to my 42 inch with a HD cable. The HD cable also covers audio. So in the master audio settings it only recognizes the TV. If I plug in my headset (mic/line in) it doesn't recognize it. Is it because the drivers are missing? or because the HD is conflicting. My computer wont connect to the internet when my router is plugged in, yet my wifi is still available?
Ok so here goes, my wireless router has worked all along but i went to a friends house last night and hooked it up there so we could play xbox live. I come home today and hook it up and dont really go on the computer but just keep messin around with my ipod touch, which still has wifi connectivity. When i try to go on my computer, it says there is limited or no connectivity, yet i have full wifi connectivity? The link light on my modem still flashes but the one on the wireless router doesnt, also the ethernet port lights only flash when i have my modem directly plugged into my computer, if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, please throw them out there. P.S. even when i have my wireless router plugged into the computer, i cant search its default ip address, so anyone, please help!

What wireless usb adapters work with verizon 3g router - mifi?
I have an old desktop that does not have a wireless card. The old usb adapter I've been using will not hold the signal long (it connects & then immediately drops). I've changed settings etc... and concluded the problem is with the old wireless usb (the verizon mifi works perfect with my laptop). Since they're not too expensive, I decided to replace the wireless usb stick, but wanted to be sure I bought something that others have had success with. THANKS FOR THE HELP!

NO!!!!! 560 Ti is great card but processor is horrible. You need a processor with HUGE multiple cores for running HUGE applications. i7 has lots of itty bitty cores, so you can only run lots of itty bitty low demand applications.

What is a good Iron Gym workout routine to get bigger and gain weight?
I recently bought the Iron Gym Total Body Fitness Kit from Olympia Sports for 49.99. My goal is to get ALOT bigger than I am now cuz I'm pretty ******* scrawny. lol. If you saw my other questions, you'll see I have a lot of questions about exercising, weight gain, fitness and all that crap. Anyways, it comes with the Iron Gym Pull Up Bar itself, ab straps for the pull ups, Cardio Jump Rope that is wireless, and rotating push up bars. I'm hoping that using all of these workout equipment, I will gain weight. For those who have this product, what is your workout routine? I am thinking I will do these exercises and use all of the equipment everyday for at least 30 mins a day. After I am done working out all together, I will drink a protein shake and maybe have some protein like peanut butter sandwiches and all that kind of stuff. And if I start seeing minor results at least, the kind of results I wanna see, I will take one step closer and start lifting dumbbells and possibly start benching if I still have a bench and will then do 1 hr per day of workouts everyday, but I don't know if that is pushing it or not. I don't know about the foods that I will eat but I know I will probably eat at least 5 meals a day with Breakfast, snack, Lunch, snack, Dinner, and possible dessert. But I am being careful that I am not losing weight instead of gaining weight, because I REALLY need to gain weight. What would be a good workout routine for all of the equipment mentioned? and how fast would I see results if I continued doing the workout schedule? Lemme know if you need more information then I will provide you with the needed information for an answer.

I have been a CISCO data and voip engineer for a long time...If you would like to become a CISCO voip tech then the first thing you need to do is get a solid handle on data networking. Please remember that VOIP is still voice OVER IP. Meaning if you don't understand how data networking works you are going to have an EXTREMELY hard time learning VOIP. I worked in CISCO data networking full time for about 7 years before I ventured into CISCO Voice. Because you already understand switched voice you do have a head start to a degree. I would highly recommend starting out with the traditional CCNA data certification then move on the CCNA voice certification. Finally you should study CCNP and then CCVP. Please understand this is not for the faint of heart...I have seen many old school voice folks who just couldn't cut it as a VOIP engineer because they couldn't get their head around data networking. That being said if you can do it you can learn VOIP, but it takes a long time to get really good. It took me about 4 years of working with Cisco VOIP to be able to install an entire phone system from scratch by myself. When I took my CCVP bootcamp back in 2006 there were 14 people in the class and only two of us passed the CCVP the first time out. This was mostly due to the fact most of the folks had little to no data networking background. I am currently certified from CISCO with CCNP/CCVP/CCDP. Good Luck...

I know that through netflix you can get a box and get tv and movies through them, but I'm not sure I'm ready to trust that source for all our tv needs. i spoke with at&t about getting wireless tv through them and was very surprised to find they didnt have that capacity. i dont want dish/satellite tv either, just some basic channels but still hd reception since we have a large lcd tv. what are my options and what is a good objective source to talk to about the hook ups, technical details and advantages/disadvantages of different approaches?

Will I need a sound card for my computer?
Most motherboards have a build in sound card. Yours does too, so no extra sound card is needed. But a separate sound card will give a better sound and might even help push out an extra frame or two when gaming, as it offloads your processor. Most users do not require a separate sound card though, so give it a try first without and if you feel like the sound quality is too disappointing for example, then you can always add a separate sound card still in the future.

I have an Avaya 4400 series phone here at work and I broke it again. Last time it took our phone guy 2 weeks to come fix it. I tried to program in a handsfree answer button and now I can't make phone calls. I cannot pick up my line without selecting the line, then I can hear the person on the other end, but they can not hear me. And I can't disconnect the line. Ok, I've been using my Dell Dimension C521 for about 3 years now using a wireless card and connecting to a wireless connection in the house. I now moved and tried to hook my Dell up to the internet using a direct connect ethernet cable from the cable companys netgear router. When I plug it in, on the back of the computer a light comes on right where the ethernet cable goes in so I know it accepts it. But I can't get a connection to the internet. Nothing pops up on my computer when I plug it in prompting me to do anything and I've tried to make a new connection using the new internet connection wizard. I did remove my wireless card (motorola). And I know the connection works because I'm using my lap top with it right now. When I plug it in the back of the lap top it auto connects and I have internet right away. Any help on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance

I got a headset for my MyTouch 4g and I was wondering how to make my audio work on my headset?
When I sync it the thing gave me a choice on phone audio but it wont give me a choice on media audio and when I try to use voice commands over the bluetooth the thing doesn't pick up my voice so right now I can only use this headset with phone calls. I have a looxcie headset

Website pages are loading really slowly and I keep getting the error "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading". I have to keep refreshing to get it to load. Good wireless router?
Grandfather has a dvd player with the option to stream netflix, but the wireless router is at the opposite end of the house and the signal won't reach his room. I have Hotwire and I'm thinking that since they have a monopoly over our apartment complex, they may have placed certain restrictions on how the residents use the internet connection. I was also thinking it might be my router? I have a Motorola SBG900 Wireless Surfboard Gateway. Has anyone run into an issue like this in the past and resolved it?

I don't really have a ton of knowledge about small business phone systems. I am attempting to play royalty free music over our phone system while we put people on hold. We have an Avaya (old school Lucent) Partner ACS system with 1 main unit and 2 extension units. It is R 4.1 version and we are currently running 4 lines off it and 10 extensions. There is a "Music on Hold" RCA jack in the front of the main unit. Right now we have an RCA cable attached to that from a computer where we are playing music to get it working. We hear nothing and have tried numerous things like making sure the feature is programmed on a phone, etc. Any help or ideas? Do we need a music coupler to make this work or a smaller watt source? Most of the time the network with supposed excellent signal strength has no signal strength at all. When I try to refresh the list it doesn't work 99 percent of the time. It shows networks that are miles away at the last place I tried to connect. Vista sucked balls but this part worked great. Soooo is there a 3rd party software I can use that shows signal strength and a button to connect to a network. Oh and WeFi is horrible, don't even get me started on that horrible software. My wireless card is a dell 1390. Thanks for any advice.

Why isn't my Verizon router letting me use Wi-Fi on my iPod Touch anymore?
My mom installed the AVG security program and everything has changed since. My iPod touch recognizes the SSID and I type in the WEP address (that I have been using for the last two years) that's on the Verizon Wireless router on my iPod Touch and it says "Unable to join network". I have done absolutely everything I could. YES, I did try going to Setting>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings and still nothing works.

In my opinion there is nothing else out there that gets less money than a used computer. There is nothing that degrades in value faster than a used computer. I can not tell you in earnest what you will get for that but I can tell you this, you will be shocked at how little you will get.

Can I plug a 5 or 8 port switch or router into my wireless router ?
I would like to add a wired switch or router to my wireless router. My wireless router is a Linksys WRT54G. I understand on the second wired router/switch I would have to disable DHCP server but I believe that a switch doesn't offer DHCP ? Will this work and is it as easy as it sounds ? Would a switch be better that a wired router for this ?
IPhone Internet & app downloading slow?

Depending on your Router their should be a little pin hole size button in the back of it labeled RESET this will restore your router to it's original factory settings. Try and do that and see if it fixes it. let us know!
Phone question - Avaya brand headset prevents me from using hand held phone?
At work I have an Avaya phone and head set. While for long calls I like the headphone option, I would like to be able to answer calls by just picking up the hand held phone. I can hear a dial tone and what people are saying on the other line, but they cannot hear what I am saying. The headset didn't come with instructions on how to handle this. Ok, i work at a call center for a bank. As such we have a monitoring agent installed on our avaya phones which records conversations. Recently our manager informed us that the QA department could hear the conversations we were having, even when we were in Mute, and not on a call. She also stated that she would take action against these individuals if these conversations continued. Is it legal for my employer to monitor me when not on a call, and to take action against me for a private conversation?

I was thinking of getting the creative x-fi sound card and a roccat kave 5.1 headset. 8/10, I am kinda jealous, better than my set-up by far - well, apart from the case, I have an X-Case i9 (Red) :P Also liking the gaming keyboard + gaming mouse. I'm actually currently looking for an illuminating keyboard myself, although trying to get one in red not blue so it'll match my case. All you need now is a decent headset, unless you prefer to listen on your sound card which doesn't sound too bad if it's surround sound. However, I recommend getting a 2nd monitor. I have one connected to my computer and my second one right next to it connected to my xbox, it's actually a monitor not an xbox but it's got HDMI on it so it's all good.

We just bought a new small business phone system. We only one private office, and need to be able to answer all calls at any phone, have all call ring through to all phones and ring several times, only one phone will have voice mail. We need to be able to switch phones easy and have the call follow. Right now when we get an incomming call it goes strait to "Sorry your party can't be reached right now" I looked it up and It sounded like abreviated ringing so I deactivated that on all extensions, but it still does it. What are the best programing setup for us? What settings should we set? How can we get incoming calls to ring through?

When did Lucent 2 for 1 stock splits occur?
I'm doing my taxes and I need a basis for Lucent stock up until 2000 and I can't remember when the stock split. I believe it split twice and I know one time was in 1998 but I can't seem to find out when the 2nd split happened. I need to know what the Lucent stock cost so I can figure out what the Avaya stock cost basis should be.

Can a wireless printer differentiate between two of the same model printers?
I just got a new wireless printer that happened to be on sale and works well so I gave my old wired one to my dad because it still worked well. It turns out that it was too old to run with his computer, so he wants to buy a wireless printer as well. He would love to get the same one he got me because it was at a good price, but he's not sure if when he chose to print something would it be sent to both printers, or was there a way to pick which of the wireless printers to go even if they are the same kind of printer. Fast wireless adapter that can use an external antenna?
We have a dish set up on our roof, something like 18dbi gain, and on top of that it has a powered amplifier ("injector") hooked inline with it, so it should have a huge range. For the longest time, it was hooked to an Avaya Wireless World Card Silver 11mb/s notebook card (adapted into a desktop pc) that used WEP to connect to our ISP's tower several miles away. Well something isn't working with that card, and i was wondering if i hooked a more generic card to it that could scan everything and pick up on stuff like the free public WIFI networks in town (just another mile or two past the tower) then it would fix our reliance on the ISP. So i've been looking, but while i don't see any wireless-n cards out there yet that allow use of an external antenna (we can adapt connectors), i'd settle for a good wireless-g adapter, but it has to be something that i can hook this huge antenna up to.
Is there a way block them from picking up my line? ?

I'm trying to upgrade my companies current phone system. We currently use an Avaya phone system, and Verizon as our service provider. What we're looking to do is upgrade our conference capabilities. Right now we can only have two external parties connected unless we use a dial in number. Although the dial in number works my boss would prefer for us to be able to simply call people and add them to the call as needed, as well as let them call in when needed. In addition he would like to be able to transfer the call to a another phone if need be. For many reasons a VOIP system has been ruled out and is not an a option (although it seems like an easy solution, trust me I've been pushing for it). There has to be a non-VOIP phone system out there that can handle these simple tasks. Please help!

How do i telnet into an avaya system?
If it is a G3 system, use the IP address and port 5111. If it is an ACM system S8300, S87xx, use port 5023. Try using Tuttytel, as it has some of the command codes needed for controlling the session. Simple telnet or hyperterminal lacks the terminal control codes (terminal type 513), and will just frustrate you. Access is controlled by an ID and password on most systems, by Avaya security guard ( a token pad protection scheme, like SecurID).

Help, calls at our office are dropping intermittently!?
I'm at the end of my rope! At our office, I somehow got stuck with being in charge of the phones. Well, we have an Avaya PBX, not VOIP, and we are having problems with dropped calls. The phone company and the company in charge of the PBX are pointing fingers at each other. Whose fault is it? Two details: we have two T1s, one for local, one for long distance, all the dropped calls have come from outbound calls to long distance numbers. Also, one dropped call involved someone here calling two people to start a conference call, and during the call, one of the parties dropped, but the other stayed on, thought that was unusual. Whose fault do you think it is? I don't know what to do!

Bad latency when playing online games?
Me and my boyfriend play online games like WoW and Starcraft 2, however it's always me that gets a bad connection even though we are both running off the same internet.
