Can't connect laptop to Internet, but it will connect to wireless router?

My cabled desktop computer works fine and the Internet is working, but my two laptops won't connect to the Internet. I recently added a password to my Linksys router and added some security settings on my desktop computer. Nothing I try is working. Help?
