What are uses for XBox 360 other than gaming?

What uses does the 360 provide? I don't want to subscribe to Xbox live, but I do have a wireless internet connection and Windows 7 on my lap top. I can stream everything onto my TV without paying for XBox Live? Thanks for reading this
